Caracas Earth Quake

It's been a gut-wrenching couple of days, moving from Caracas to Valencia with other volunteers, gathering food & medicine to deliver to those affected by the earthquake. The military currently barricades Caracas as they are trying to limit the number of people who can enter.

The US State Department predicts between 10,000 and 100,000 people are feared dead or missing. So far, government figures put it here at over 1,000 dead.

It was a harrowing experience yesterday during our team's effort in the search & rescue we could hear the voices of people but the military/police did not have equipment to evacuate. As we helped out with food in some of the worst-affected areas, we could smell what seemed like the smell of human cadavers.

 It was a heartbreaking moment.

We have met up with various international officials who are part of a government delegation that has been sent to help.

It was the right call to cancel all outreaches, because from Wednesday to date there have series of smaller quakes called “replicas " in Spanish which are aftershocks. Some of them have as high as 5.1, which happened last night 4.6. Those aftershocks collapsed the buildings that were already fragile as a result of the quakes. Over 300 buildings were destroyed and many still trapped.

We have bought medicines and food, which were sent on the ground through a group of churches using a truck to send it to the worst affected areas. Shops and drugstores are beginning to be empty. We have to make the drive to the border of Colombia/Venezuela today to pick up some provisions that have already arrived.

The twin quakes occurred on June 24 which was the day they celebrated the anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo which took place under the command of Simon Bolivar(seen as the grand liberator) and also the day witches gathered to celebrate ‘San Juan Day’ in commemoration of “El Negro Primero”, which is a demonic principality that's being worshipped here.

We know God is not the one who inspires natural disasters but in the midst of such calamities, His steadfastness never ceases to be revealed. Please continue praying.
