In 2 Chronicles 16:12, we read about King Asa’s failing health

"In the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa developed a disease in his feet. His disease was severe, yet even in his illness he did not seek the Lord, but relied only on the physicians." (Amplified Bible)

This verse serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of turning to God first, especially in our moments of greatest need. While physicians and medical treatments are blessings from God and essential for healing, they should not replace our trust in the Divine Healer—the Lord Jehovah-Rapha.

Reflecting on King Asa’s Example

King Asa’s reliance solely on physicians in his illness illustrates a common human tendency: to depend on earthly solutions without seeking divine intervention. If Asa had sought God first, trusting in His power to heal, he might have experienced divine healing in his time of affliction. The lesson is clear—God desires us to bring our sicknesses and struggles to Him in faith, trusting His sovereignty and His ability to heal beyond human capacity.

Personal Testimony: Facing Heart Challenges

Today, I face a personal health challenge—scheduled for September 8th is a procedure called transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), to treat my aortic stenosis—a narrowing of the aortic valve that can lead to heart failure. This minimally invasive procedure aims to restore proper blood flow and alleviate symptoms such as fatigue and shortness of breath.

While I am grateful for the medical advancements that make TAVI possible, my spiritual response is rooted in trusting Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord who heals. I am committed to seeking His guidance, strength, and healing power throughout this process, rather than relying solely on medical intervention.

The Power of Faith and Prayer

Just as King Asa's story cautions us to seek God first, my approach is to pray fervently—asking for God's grace, wisdom for the medical team, and His healing touch. I believe that divine healing is possible and that God's sovereignty extends even over the most advanced medical procedures.

A Call to Believers

In our personal battles—whether health, financial, emotional, or spiritual—we are invited to trust in God's power first and foremost. Medical treatments, doctors, and hospitals are tools God uses to bring healing, but our ultimate trust must be in Jehovah-Rapha, the Lord Our Healer.

Let us remember that seeking God wholeheartedly in our times of need aligns us with His divine purpose. As Psalm 103:2-3 encourages, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits—who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases."

In faith, I step forward into this treatment, confident that God's healing power is greater than any ailment. I encourage you to do the same—trust in the Lord, seek His face, and believe in His perfect plan for your health and life.
